OUR HOME | OUR DREAMS | OUR FUTURE
Thank YOU!
My name is Bynette Mote. I am a full-time resident in Big Bear Lake and proudly served as one of our City’s Planning Commissioners from 2018 to 2020 and one of your City Councilmembers from 2020 to 2024, among other community roles.
I was honored to have earned your confidence and worked hard these last 3+ years to be a voice for all of my District 5 neighbors. I came to City Council to help people, and to help our community. It has been very clearly communicated to me that I will no longer be allowed to help in this current environment, and that I have a different standard of work and ethical behavior.
I have appreciated your support immensely! My contact details are below if I can ever be of any help.
It has been an honor to represent this community.

View MoreGoals I would like to see achieved for Big Bear Lake
My main focus on City Council was to represent YOU, my District 5 neighbors and constituents. Your concerns, your desires, what you would like to see done. I also concentrated my energy on future planning for our City and the following are just some of the areas in which I saw a need.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
My goal was to see us actively pursue opportunities to enhance our economy, fill the vacant buildings, improve services, essentially grow our prosperity and the quality of life for all residents and visitors alike.
GENERAL IDEAS:
– Support year-round clientele and business growth for our community
– Attract more small businesses and motivate renovations with incentives
SUSTAINED INFRASTRUCTURE
My goal was to see us be able to handle the increasing visitation without seeing and feeling the impact to our natural environment, the forest, wildlife and trails, traffic and services.
GENERAL IDEAS:
– Improved signage, trash cans, restrooms, parking
– Minimize vehicle use with more public transportation, walking districts, a loop path around the lake
BALANCED TOURISM
My goal was to see us have stable, positive relationships across everyone living, working and visiting here, to minimize the issues and frustrations that year-round tourism can bring about.
GENERAL IDEAS:
– Further education for visitors through marketing and businesses
– Improve regulations, transparency and increase enforcements on code for short-term rentals
BEAUTIFUL BIG BEAR FUTURE
My goal was to see us continue planning an ideal future for Big Bear, from well-maintained public places to balancing housing needs, and give our valley its best inviting look and feel for decades beyond.
GENERAL IDEAS:
– Motivate owners to rent affordable, long-term homes vs short-term
– Improve focus for high quality public areas, sidewalks, parks
